Recruitment Fee

by Barbara
(Kentucky)

I have a customer with whom I've had 6 technical, permanent placements this year. This customer recently asked me to find a person who they were very interested in hiring and gave me the person's name and employer. This person wasn't actively looking, so I had to sell them on the company and considering making a move. They interviewed with the customer yesterday evening.

My question is should I reduce my fee since the customer gave me the person's name.

My suggestion is to not reduce your fee because you don't want to set a precedent. Instead, send them a very large gift or offer to sponsor a very nice employee gift to give away at a Christmas party or mid year event. You keep the fee but acknowledge that they helped out.

Terrific question. I'd welcome any other suggestions as well.
